No, Euro Truck Simulator 2 isn’t on Nintendo Switch or Switch 2, and SCS Software hasn’t announced any version for Nintendo consoles. Officially, it’s played on PC with Windows, macOS, Linux and SteamOS, and in 2025 SCS announced PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions that, as of October 22, 2026, still have no release date. The truck games on the eShop with similar names aren’t made by SCS and have nothing to do with ETS2. If what you’re after is playing ETS2 on a handheld console, the official option is the Steam Deck, where the game is Verified by Valve.

Will Euro Truck Simulator 2 come to Switch?
Nothing has been announced. SCS unveiled the console versions at the Future Games Show in August 2025, and its official console website only shows PlayStation and Xbox, with links to add the game to your wishlist. In October 2025, SCS’s console producer, Jakub Mráz, told Traxion they wouldn’t come out in 2025. There’s been no date since then: the official SCS blog posts from October 2026 cover the 1.62 update, new trucks and the UK rework, but not consoles.
As for Nintendo, nothing: neither the 2025 announcement nor the console website mentions Switch or Switch 2. SCS hasn’t explained why. Any video or website giving a date for «ETS2 Switch» is speculating, just like the rumors of a PS4 version.
Watch out for the «Euro Truck Simulator» games on the eShop
When you search for «euro truck simulator switch», truck games that really are on the Nintendo eShop show up, but they aren’t ETS2. Two examples of what you might come across:
- Eastern Europe Truck Simulator (2023): a hauling game on Eastern European roads with 10 missions and three trucks.
- Truck Simulator 2 (2021): a simulator set in a warehouse area, with trucks, forklifts, missions and free driving.
They’re legal games from other studios, but they don’t have the Europe map, the licensed trucks or the mods of ETS2. Before buying, check the publisher on the eShop page: no SCS Software game is currently sold on Nintendo Switch. Also be wary of websites offering «ETS2 for Switch» as a download or with free codes: they ask for personal data or shady downloads, and the game doesn’t exist.
How to play ETS2 on a handheld: the Steam Deck
If what draws you to the Switch is playing on the couch or on the road, the Steam Deck is the official way. ETS2 is listed as Steam Deck Verified: according to Steam’s compatibility info, all features are accessible with the default controls, text is easy to read and the default graphics settings work properly.
- Adapted controls. SCS tweaked the game in 2022 for the Steam Deck launch: button combinations for the controller, an on-screen legend showing what each button does, and basic touch controls for the menus.
- Same purchase as on PC. If you already own ETS2 on your Steam account, you don’t have to pay for it again, and you keep your DLCs.
- Cross-platform Convoy. You can play Convoy mode with friends on PC. We explain it in Euro Truck Simulator 2 online.
- Mods. Since it’s the Steam version, you can use Workshop mods and manual ones, just like on a PC. Keep in mind that large maps and graphics mods are more demanding on a handheld; check the Euro Truck Simulator 2 requirements.
Can you stream ETS2 to the Switch?
Not officially either. The two usual ways to play ETS2 on another screen don’t work on Nintendo’s console:
- Steam Link: Valve’s free app is available for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Android, Fire TV, Raspberry Pi, Windows, Linux, macOS and Meta Quest, but not for Nintendo Switch.
- GeForce NOW: you can play ETS2 in NVIDIA’s cloud with the Steam version, but NVIDIA doesn’t list Nintendo consoles among its supported devices.
If you have a phone or tablet, on the other hand, you can stream your PC save with Steam Link or use GeForce NOW. We walk you through it step by step in the ETS2 on your phone guide.
If you only have a Switch: what are the alternatives
There’s nothing like ETS2 on the Switch, but there are truck simulators from well-known publishers. The most complete is Truck and Logistics Simulator, by Aerosoft: more than 20 vehicles, from vans to heavy trucks, loading jobs with forklifts and cranes, a 24 km² open map and multiplayer convoys of up to 16 players with crossplay. It’s available in Spanish. It’s not an SCS game and doesn’t have its European routes, but it’s a legal option you can buy on the eShop.

What about American Truck Simulator on Switch?
It’s exactly the same story. American Truck Simulator, SCS’s other simulator, isn’t on Switch or Switch 2 either, and its announced console versions are also for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no date. We cover it in American Truck Simulator on Xbox and PS5.

No. SCS Software doesn’t sell ETS2 on Nintendo Switch. The similarly named truck games on the eShop come from other studios.
Will ETS2 come to Nintendo Switch 2?
There’s no announcement. The only confirmed consoles are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and as of October 22, 2026 they still have no date.
Can I play ETS2 on the Switch with Steam Link or GeForce NOW?
No. Steam Link has no Switch app and GeForce NOW doesn’t include Nintendo consoles among its supported devices.
What’s the best way to play ETS2 on a handheld?
The Steam Deck: the game is Verified, has controls adapted to the gamepad, and you use the same purchase and the same DLCs as on PC.
Are there ETS2 mods on console?
Right now mods are only for PC and Steam Deck, because no console version is on sale. On Switch there won’t be mods as long as the game doesn’t exist there.
