What this mod does
ProMods Complete Afroeurasia Background Map, by DOWL, replaces the game’s map background with one that covers Europe, Asia and Africa north of the equator. It’s designed for big modded map combos, and the roads and cities of most of them line up. It has over 87,000 subscribers. DOWL also makes ProMods High Quality Background Map.
What it covers
- All of Europe.
- Much of Africa, such as Morocco, Egypt, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya and Cameroon.
- Asia: Russia, the Middle East, Central Asia, China, Japan, India, Southeast Asia and Indonesia.
- Greenland and several Arctic islands.
It doesn’t include anything south of the equator, because that falls outside the projection that can be used.
Compatible maps
ProMods, The Great Steppe, RusMap, Southern Region, RoEx, Road to Asia, Road to Africa and JRR, among others. It’s also compatible with map zoom and map color mods.
Load order
Put it above all modded maps. If the UK, Ireland, the Faroe Islands or Iceland show up shifted, the author links a mod that turns off the scale adjustment.
Version
Tested on 1.57 with ProMods and its expansions. On December 30, 2025, the author adapted it to Nordic Horizons and ProMods 2.80.

Requirements

- Recommended: ProMods or other modded maps
How to install it
- Open the "ProMods Complete Afroeurasia Background Map" page on Steam Workshop and click "Subscribe".
- Wait for Steam to finish downloading.
- Launch ETS2, open the Mod Manager and enable the mod.
- Put it above all your modded maps.
- Open the in-game map (M) and check that the roads line up with the background.

Do I need ProMods?
It's not required, but it's designed for use with modded maps.
The UK or Iceland show up shifted
The author recommends a mod that turns off the scale adjustment.
Why isn't southern Africa shown?
It falls outside the projection that can be used.
