ProMods High Quality Background Map for Euro Truck Simulator 2

What this mod does

ProMods High Quality Background Map replaces the background image you see on the in-game map (M key and job selector) with a higher-quality one, drawn to match ProMods. Its author, DOWL, has maintained it since 2021, and it has more than 140,000 subscribers on Steam.

What it covers

Besides ProMods, the background spans the areas of other large maps that are often combined with it: The Great Steppe, RusMap, Southern Region and RoEx, among others. That way, the roads on those maps don’t sit on an empty or low-resolution background. The Steam page has before-and-after comparisons.

Versions

The description says it’s tested on 1.57, and the author has replied in the comments that it should work on 1.59, 1.60 and 1.61. Since it only changes an image, it’s not very sensitive to game updates.

Load order and issues

• It must go above all maps in the Mod Manager.
• If the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Faroe Islands or Iceland appear shifted, move it above all maps; the author also links a guide to disable SCS’s scale setting.

If your map combo goes beyond Europe, the author has a wider background (ProMods Complete Afroeurasia Background), and there’s also ETS2 Global Background Map.

Requirements

• Euro Truck Simulator 2 (tested on 1.57; the author says it should work up to 1.61)
• ProMods (the only map required)

How to install it

1. Subscribe to the mod on Steam Workshop.
2. In the Mod Manager, place it above ProMods and any other map.
3. Open the in-game map to check the new background.
4. If the British Isles or Iceland appear shifted, make sure it's above all maps.
