What this mod does
ETS2 Global Background Map replaces the background you see on the in-game map (M key and job selector) with one that covers almost the whole world. It’s the most downloaded ETS2 UI mod on TruckyMods, with close to 70,000 downloads, because it solves a very common problem: when you combine maps that go beyond Europe, the stock background runs out and the roads end up floating over nothing.
What it covers
- Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, North America and South America.
- Lambert conformal conic projection, with Europe heavily tweaked to line up with the game.
- South America with its own projection, and Australia slightly shrunk and shifted, because Tasmania falls outside the game’s coordinate limit. Antarctica is fictional.
- Borders and coastlines redrawn from scratch over Freeman’s AllWorld background, with islands, disputed territories and adjustments for ProMods 2.80 and Nordic Horizons.
Versions and compatibility
Since it only changes a background image, the author lists it for all game versions. There are variants on separate pages: dark, Grand Utopia+ (for Grand Utopia) and dark Grand Utopia+. Since 1.1 it includes an optional file that restores SCS’s road colors. It fits well with combos that use ProMods and faraway maps like SFIGC.

Requirements

How to install it
- Open the mod's page on TruckyMods and choose the variant you want (normal, dark or Grand Utopia+).
- Download it from TruckyMods or with the Trucky Mods Manager.
- Copy the file to Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod.
- Enable only one background variant in the Mod Manager.
- If you want the stock road colors, also enable the optional file it includes.

Common problems
Does it change roads or cities?
No. It only replaces the map's background image; the drivable territory comes from the game and your maps.
Does it work with Grand Utopia?
Yes, there's a Grand Utopia+ variant published on a separate page.
Does it work on 1.61?
The author lists it as compatible with all game versions.
Can I use several variants at once?
There's no point: enable just one background.
