What this mod does
Real Economy Overhaul (REO), by BlackBaron, rebuilds the economy and progression of Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.61 so that running your company feels like managing a real European haulage firm: no arcade payouts or unrealistic passive income.
Pay per kilometer
- General cargo: 1.25-1.60 €/km.
- Refrigerated: 1.55-1.90 €/km.
- Fragile or high-value: 1.85-2.30 €/km.
- ADR: 2.00-2.50 €/km.
- Heavy: up to about 4.20 €/km; special transport: up to about 7.50 €/km.
Other changes
Diesel priced by country, ferries with new fares and times, new and used trucks with realistic prices (used ones from 150,000 to 1,500,000 km), permanent wear, hired drivers, fines and a bank loan capped at about 200,000 €. Parts, trucks and trailers are no longer locked by level: money is the only limit. XP works as in the base game.
Compatibility and warnings
Don’t combine it with other economy mods or regular physics mods, because they touch the same chassis and vehicle files. Graphics, weather, sound, traffic and cosmetic mods work as long as they don’t overwrite its definitions. The author still considers it in development: one player saw their level drop and BlackBaron announced a fix. Quick jobs pay little on purpose.

How to install it
- Open the "Real Economy Overhaul by BlackBaron" page on Steam Workshop and click "Subscribe".
- Launch Euro Truck Simulator 2 and wait for Steam to finish downloading the mod.
- Open the Mod Manager for your profile and enable "Real Economy Overhaul by BlackBaron".
- Disable other economy and physics mods before loading your profile.

Common problems
How much do you earn?
Between 1.25 and 1.60 €/km for general cargo, and up to about 7.50 €/km for special transport.
Why do quick jobs pay so little?
The author explains that the truck belongs to the company and you don't pay ownership costs; they pay roughly 0.05 to 0.56 €/km.
Does it work with physics mods?
Not with regular ones: they touch the same files and one overwrites the other.
Does it remove level locks?
Yes, parts, trucks and trailers are bought with money, without waiting to level up.
