What this mod does
Realistic Traffic AI is a mod by Playfog Studio that changes how traffic is spread throughout the day and how the AI reacts to weather and intersections.
What it changes
- Density varies with the time of day: more movement in the morning and afternoon, and light traffic in the early hours.
- Vehicles slow down in rain and fog.
- Smarter behavior at intersections.
- Many more AI vehicles stop at gas stations, and they stay longer.
What’s new in version 2.6
It raises overall density, increases the distance at which vehicles spawn so you can see them from farther away, adds more cars during the day and afternoon, and leaves the night mostly to trucks, just like on real roads.
Compatibility
It’s a universal version that, according to the author, works from 1.40 to 1.61. There’s no load order or ProMods compatibility info, so if you use other traffic mods, test which one should sit higher. As a rule, don’t mix it with other mods that change AI density or behavior.

How to install it
- Open the mod's Steam Workshop page and click "Subscribe".
- Wait for Steam to finish downloading.
- Launch ETS2 and open the Mod Manager.
- Enable "Realistic Traffic AI" and load your save.
- If you use other traffic mods, try placing it above them.

Yes, the author lists compatibility from 1.40 to 1.61.
Is there less traffic at night?
Yes: traffic drops in the early hours and it's mostly trucks on the road.
