What this mod does
Volvo FH Open Pipe Sound brings Slav Jerry‘s open pipe exhaust to Volvo trucks. It has more than 10,000 downloads on TruckyMods and is the author’s most-downloaded Volvo sound mod.
What it adds
- D13 (420–540 hp), D16 (540–750 hp) and D17 (600–780 hp) engines, all with a straight pipe sound.
- Three-stage engine brake: in 1.5 the second stage is the «jake» brake only and the third combines the jake and exhaust brakes.
- Manual shift sound for the FH3, retarder and cab soundproofing effect.
- Distance attenuation and directional distortion depending on where the camera is.
Compatible trucks
Every SCS Volvo. 1.0.1 fixed the engine not showing up on the FH5 and FH6.
Good to know
The author admits that the D16 and D17 use the D13 samples, because he couldn’t find enough D16 recordings; that’s why he warns there will be few updates until he gets better samples. 1.5 fixed faulty engine torque at startup, redid the sound bank and enabled the convoy option by default. On TruckyMods it’s listed for ETS2 1.56–1.57: the author hasn’t confirmed later versions.

How to install it
- Open the mod's page on TruckyMods, on Slav Jerry's verified account.
- Download version 1.5 directly from TruckyMods.
- Copy the .scs into Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod.
- Enable it in the Mod Manager above any other Volvo mods.
- In the service shop, fit one of the D13, D16 or D17 engines the mod adds.

Common problems
Does the D16 sound different from the D13?
Not much: the author uses D13 samples for the D16 and D17 due to a lack of D16 recordings.
Does it work in Convoy?
1.5 enables the convoy option by default, according to the changelog.
Does it work on 1.61?
The author only lists it for 1.56 and 1.57. It may load on later versions, but it isn't confirmed.
