What this mod does
With more than 12,000 downloads on TruckyMods and an SCS forum thread with over 235,000 views, this is one of Slav Jerry‘s longest-running sound mods. It reproduces a Scania DC16 V8 with the open pipe exhaust fitted by the FKM Garage shop.
What it adds
- DC16 V8 engines from Euro 3 to Euro 6, 480 to 770 hp, including the JBS kit variants.
- Three-position exhaust valve: side exit, stock exhaust or stacks. Switch it by holding the light horn (J) for a little over a second, but less than a second and a half.
- Engine brake activation sound on the Scania NG, gearbox whine, retarder and Opticruise shifts.
- Distance attenuation, distortion and directional sound depending on the camera position.
Compatible trucks
SCS Scanias, RJL’s Scania R and Streamline, RJL’s 4 Series, JUseeTV’s Scania PGR and Fred’s Scania. Since 5.0 the engines are standalone and coexist with the stock sound and with SJ Concept.
Version
5.0 (March 2026) redid the whole mod and removed the six-cylinder variant. 5.0.1 fixes the retarder volume. It’s listed for ETS2 1.56–1.60; 1.61 doesn’t appear on the page yet. If you’re after a different tone, try the same author’s Lepidas exhaust.

Requirements
- Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.60 (stated versions: 1.56–1.60)
- A compatible Scania: SCS, RJL (R, Streamline, 4 Series), JUseeTV's PGR or Fred's Scania
- No other mod that replaces the truck's interior sounds (it blocks the exhaust valve)
How to install it
- Open the mod's page on TruckyMods, on Slav Jerry's verified account.
- Download version 5.0.1, hosted on TruckyMods itself.
- Copy the .scs into Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod.
- In the Mod Manager, place it above any Scania truck mods you use.
- In the service shop, fit one of the DC16 V8 engines the mod adds.
- To switch exhausts, hold the light horn (J) for a little over a second and release it.

Common problems
Why doesn't the exhaust change when I press J?
You need to hold the key for a little over a second, but less than a second and a half. If another mod replaces the truck's interior sounds, the valve won't work.
Can I use it alongside the stock Scania V8?
Yes. Since 5.0 the engines are standalone and coexist with the stock sound and with SJ Concept.
Is the six-cylinder version still available?
No. The author removed it in 5.0.
Does it work on 1.61?
The page only lists up to 1.60. Check the page before updating your game.
