What this mod does

YARM: Particles Addon is the particles add-on by Denis, the author of Yet Another Rain Mod. Instead of the raindrops on the windshield, it improves the water your wheels kick up when it rains. In Euro Truck Simulator 2 it has more than 21,000 subscribers.

What it changes

  • Hand-redrawn, higher-resolution wheel spray textures.
  • Particles per wheel go from 4-8 in the base game to about 200.
  • Three spray levels depending on how much water is on the road.
  • Minimal performance impact: on modest CPUs (around 350 single-core points in CPU-Z) it can cost 2 to 4 FPS.

Compatibility and load order

It’s optional and works alongside other rain mods; the author says it’s compatible with all mods. Recommended order, top to bottom: Particles Addon, Pure Rain Addon (optional), Yet Another Rain Mod (optional), other rain mods and, at the bottom, graphics, weather and lighting mods.

Version

It works from 1.58 to 1.61; 1.57 and earlier are untested. Version 1.7, from October 16, 2026, optimizes it for 1.61 by removing and adding parameters. The author publishes a separate version for American Truck Simulator.

How to install it

  1. Open the ETS2 "YARM: Particles Addon" page on Steam Workshop and click "Subscribe".
  2. Launch Euro Truck Simulator 2 and open the Mod Manager.
  3. Enable "YARM: Particles Addon" in your profile.
  4. If you use other mods by Denis, keep Particles Addon at the top, then Pure Rain Addon and then Yet Another Rain Mod.
  5. Place graphics, weather and lighting mods below them.
