Farming Simulator 22 has been on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, as well as PC and Mac, since November 22, 2021. It also came out on Stadia, but that service shut down on January 18, 2023. There’s no Nintendo Switch version: other games in the series came out on Switch. On console you can use mods, but only those from the official ModHub, and you can play with friends on other platforms thanks to crossplay. If you have a PS4 or Xbox One, FS22 is the last Farming Simulator you’ll be able to play, because Farming Simulator 25 only came out for PS5 and Xbox Series.

Farming Simulator 22 on PS4 and PS5
It’s the most searched-for console version in Spain. On PlayStation Store, every edition includes both the PS4 and PS5 versions, so if you buy it digitally for PS4 and later switch to PS5, you don’t have to pay again. It supports up to 6 players online and you need PS Plus to play online. It also works with Remote Play.

The Xbox store showed the same prices that day. They change with sales, so check them before you buy. The Premium Edition came out on November 14, 2023 and is the most complete: it adds the Zielonka map, new crops (carrots, parsnips and red beet) and seven official packs, including Kubota, Vermeer and Antonio Carraro.
Farming Simulator 22 on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
On Xbox there’s a single purchase for both generations thanks to Smart Delivery: the console downloads the right version. On Series X|S it’s optimized and the store page lists 4K and HDR10 support. For online multiplayer, 2 to 6 players, the store requires Game Pass Essential or higher.
Is there Farming Simulator 22 for Nintendo Switch?
No. GIANTS didn’t release FS22 on Switch. The original Switch got Farming Simulator 23: Nintendo Switch Edition on May 23, 2023, a single-player game with two maps of its own, and Farming Simulator 26: Nintendo Switch Edition arrived in May 2026. Switch 2 has Farming Simulator: Signature Edition, based on FS25. None of them share savegames or mods with FS22. You’ll find the details in Farming Simulator 25 on consoles.
Farming Simulator 22 mods on PS4, PS5 and Xbox
Yes, there are mods on console. You download them from the ModHub option in the game’s main menu, where GIANTS publishes community mods it has reviewed. You can’t install files from other websites. These are the limitations:
- No scripts. Script mods aren’t supported on console. That’s why tools like Courseplay or AutoDrive are PC and Mac only.
- Licensed brands only. A console mod can’t include brands that aren’t licensed in the game.
- Extra review. Each mod is tested on PC first and then on console, so some take longer to arrive and others stay PC-only.
- Limited space. Mod space on console is limited, and you notice it with large maps. GIANTS doesn’t publish the figure on its official pages, so delete the ones you don’t use.
Some FS22 maps and machines work on console. Check each page in the FS22 mod directory to see whether it lists the platforms.
Crossplay in Farming Simulator 22
FS22 has had cross-platform multiplayer between PC, Mac, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S since launch. The rules are:
- All players need the same content as the host: the same DLC and the same mods.
- Console players can only join games with ModHub mods. If a PC server uses a script mod or one downloaded elsewhere, they can’t join.
- You can filter the server list and turn off crossplay in the PlayStation or Xbox settings.
- There’s no cross-save: your PS5 savegame doesn’t carry over to PC, or vice versa.

- If you have a PS4 or Xbox One: stick with FS22. FS25 doesn’t run on those consoles.
- If you have a PS5 or Series X|S and are starting from scratch: FS25 is the more current option and the one getting new content.
- If you already have FS22 with all the content: you can keep playing; it has years of mods on the ModHub. Switch if you want the new engine, the new maps or to play with friends who are already on FS25: FS22 savegames don’t carry over to FS25 and there’s no multiplayer between the two games.
