SSD or hard drive?
The storage line on Steam doesn’t require an SSD. FS22 runs on a hard drive, but savegames on big maps with lots of production chains load much faster from an SSD.
Where mods and savegames are stored
- Mods: Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2022\mods, as .zip files, not unzipped. In-game ModHub mods go there too.
- Savegames: savegame1, savegame2… folders in Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2022.
How to free up space
- Delete maps and packs you don’t use from the mods folder; they’re the heaviest files.
- Back up the savegame folder before removing a mod you use in a savegame: anything from that mod disappears from your farm.
- If you’ve moved on to FS25 and won’t go back to FS22, move the mods folder to another drive as a backup and free up your main one.
