What this mod does
Functional Furniture, by Voxel Studios, makes some of the game’s furniture more than just decoration: you can store items inside the block itself, just like a chest.
Capacity of each piece
- Wardrobe: 36 slots.
- Royal Wardrobe: 54 slots.
- Bookshelves: 9 slots.
- Shelves: 5 slots.
According to the author, when you break the furniture its contents behave as you’d expect, without breaking Survival balance; the page doesn’t say whether the items drop on the ground. It also includes its own vanilla-style recipe for the Work in Progress sign.

Version 1.1.4, released October 13, 2026, is the file tagged for Hytale 0.7 («Updated for Chapter 1»). It’s only 78 KB.
Alternatives
Hyper Wardrobes also turns wardrobes into storage, with more slots. Neither author says whether they’re compatible with each other, so it’s best not to use them together. For decorating, it pairs well with The Fantasy Furniture.

Requirements

How to install it
- Open the Functional Furniture page on CurseForge and click Install to install it with the CurseForge app, or download VoxelStudios.FunctionalFurniture-v1.1.4.zip from the Files tab (the file tagged 0.7).
- If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into your mods folder: on Windows %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
- Open Hytale, right-click the world, check Functional Furniture in the mod list and save the world settings.
- Place a wardrobe, bookshelf or shelf and interact with it to store items.
