What this mod does
Gone Fishing is one of the most downloaded fishing mods for Hytale, with more than 150,000 downloads on CurseForge. It’s published by ShyNieke and Mrbysco, and it’s deliberately minimal: a rod that works the way you’d expect, with no menus or extra systems.
How to fish
- Recipe: the rod is crafted at the Workbench with 2 Sticks and 3 Linen Scraps.
- Equip it and right-click while looking at water to cast the bobber.
- When a fish bites, the bobber sinks: right-click again to reel in the line.
- You can catch any of the fish that already exist in the base game.
Version for Update 7
Version 0.6.0, released October 13, 2026, is the file tagged for Hytale 0.7. Its only listed change fixes a mod identifier that had been changed by mistake when copying the config from another project by the same authors. There was no file for 0.6: it jumped from 0.5.1 (June) to this one.
Who it’s for
For anyone who just wants to fish without any hassle. The authors plan new fish, a fishing minigame and more rods, but they aren’t in yet. If you want something more complete, check out HyFishing or Cozy Tales – Fishing.

Requirements
- Hytale (Early Access) on PC, version 0.7 (file GoneFishing-0.6.0.jar)
- No dependencies: no other mods needed
- 2 sticks and 3 linen scraps to craft the rod
How to install it
- Open the Gone Fishing page on CurseForge and click Install to install it with the CurseForge app, or download GoneFishing-0.6.0.jar from the Files tab (the file tagged 0.7).
- If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into your mods folder: on Windows %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
- Open Hytale, right-click the world, check Gone Fishing in the mod list and save the world settings.
- In-game, craft the rod at the workbench with 2 sticks and 3 linen scraps.
- Equip it, right-click while looking at water and right-click again when the bobber sinks.

Does it add new fish?
No. You catch the fish Hytale already has. The authors plan new fish, a minigame and more rods, with no release date.
What does 0.6.0 change?
It's the version for Hytale 0.7 and fixes a mod identifier that was changed by mistake. It doesn't add features.
