Modern Mining for Hytale

What this mod does

Modern Mining, by ModernKnight (author of ModernStorage), adds five tiers of drills that mine whole areas. The higher the tier, the bigger the area, the faster the speed and the more fuel it holds.

How they work

• Area from 1×1 up to 9×9 blocks, with a preview of what you’re about to mine.
• They run on fire essence, which you load into the drill itself; a HUD indicator shows the fuel.
• Controls: F loads fuel and crouch + F empties it and gives it back to you; R changes the size; Q and E shift the area vertically and sideways (while crouching, in the opposite direction).
• Upgrades are crafted at the workbench with copper, iron, cobalt, thorium, adamantite, leather, chitin and emeralds. Empty the drill before upgrading it.

Update 7

Version 1.3 (file ModernMining-1.3-U7.jar, October 12, 2026) is the version for 0.7 and adds drill sounds using Hytale’s own. Update 7 brings the Scrap Drill, one of the goblin gadgets, which breaks 2×2 blocks at once. Modern Mining goes much further, up to 9×9, and has its own upgrade progression, though it costs fuel. Requirements

• Hytale (Early Access) on PC or server, version 0.7 (file ModernMining-1.3-U7.jar)
• No dependencies
• Fire essence as fuel

How to install it

1. Open the Modern Mining page on CurseForge and click Install to install it with the CurseForge app, or download ModernMining-1.3-U7.jar from the Files tab (the file tagged 0.7).
2. If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into your mods folder: on Windows %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
3. Open Hytale, right-click the world, check Modern Mining in the mod list and save the world settings.
4. On a dedicated server, place the file in the server's mods folder and restart it.
5. Craft the tier 1 drill at the workbench, load it with fire essence (F) and choose the area size with R.
