Hytale goblin gadgets: Glider, Hookshot and Rocket Boots

The 7 Hytale goblin gadgets (Update 7): what the Scrap Glider, Hookshot, Rocket Boots, Scrap Drill and the rest do, and when each one is worth using.

Updated: 24 Oct 2026

Hytale’s goblin gadgets are 7 new tools that arrive with Update 7, «Chapter I: Out of the Breach». They are the Scrap Drill, the Scrap Glider, the Rocket Boots, the Hookshot with its Hook Anchors, the Spyglass, the Bangstick and the Goblin Repair Kit. Here’s what each one does according to the official patch notes and the situations where it’s worth using.

Names are given in English, as they appear in the official patch notes. For the rest of the chapter’s new content, check out our Hytale Update 7 guide.

Overview: the 7 goblin gadgets

Gadget What it does (official notes) When to use it (our suggestion)
Scrap Drill Breaks a 2×2 block area at once; also breaks and loots metal blocks Digging tunnels and excavating fast
Scrap Glider Glider: you launch, dive and climb back up while keeping your momentum; uses Stamina Getting down from high places and crossing valleys
Rocket Boots Double jump Platforms, ledges and dodging
Hookshot and Hook Anchors Grappling hook to move from one anchor to another Routes with anchors and gaps you can’t jump
Spyglass See far away Scouting before you get close

They’re all crafted at the Goblin Tinkerer’s Workbench in the Goblin Lab; you’ll find the recipes right below. They’re tied to the chapter’s goblin content, which kicks off in the Forgotten Temple when you explore the Goblin Lab. We walk you through it in our guide to The Deepworks and the Goblin Breach.

Gadget recipes (0.7.2)

When we first published this guide there were no reliable recipes; now there are. Every gadget is crafted at the Goblin Tinkerer’s Workbench, in the Goblin Lab of the Forgotten Temple. None of them drop as loot, except Hook Anchors, which also appear already placed on structures in The Guttering Hollows. It isn’t confirmed which lab machine unlocks each recipe; we explain it in our Goblin Lab guide.

Recipes (as of October 20, 2026, version 0.7.2). They already changed once after launch, even though the official notes don’t mention it. They may change with any patch, so check them in-game before you farm.

Intermediate ingredients

Also (as of October 20, 2026, version 0.7.2):

  • Dubious Assembly: 25 Scraps and 2 Void Crystal Shards. On day one it took 1 shard. According to the community wiki, the Goblin Feastmaster drops 2 to 3.
  • Boom Powder: 2 Small Boomshroom and 1 Charcoal.
  • Voidtaken Grizzly Hide: always dropped by the bear in The Guttering Hollows hunts, which require offering a Voidheart. The glider and the boots add up to 3 hides: 3 hunts and 3 Voidhearts. We walk you through it step by step in our Voidheart guide.
  • Enkindled Sigil: according to the wiki, it drops from Hollow Ancient Chests with a 20% chance.
  • Bundled Treasure: according to community databases, from tier 3 to 5 chests in The Guttering Hollows and from the Goblin Feastmaster.

Scrap Drill: 2×2 digging

The Scrap Drill breaks a 2×2 block area in one hit. It also breaks and loots metal blocks.

When to use it:

  • Tunnels and mines. Four blocks per hit leave you a 2×2 corridor you can move through comfortably.
  • Leveling ground for building.
  • Metal blocks. If you run into metal structures, the drill can break them and recover material. Update 7 adds metal block sets like Enkindled Copper, Enkindled Iron and Goblin Iron.

Heads up: when you’re after specific ores, a regular pickaxe gives you more control over what you break. If you’re looking for ores, check out Hytale ores. And remember that in 0.7, breaking blocks with a tool in the utility slot uses up its durability.

Scrap Glider: the glider

The Scrap Glider is a glider. You launch, dive to gain speed and climb back up while keeping your momentum. The notes warn you to keep an eye on your Stamina.

When to use it:

  • Getting down from mountains or towers without walking or risking a fall.
  • Crossing valleys and rivers from a high point.
  • Long trips: chaining dives and climbs lets you cover more distance than a simple descent, as long as your Stamina holds out.

Heads up: in Update 7, the mana bar takes the spot where the Stamina bar used to be, and Stamina moves down. Before you jump from very high up, make sure you know which is which. Stamina potions now have a shared 30 s cooldown, so don’t count on chaining two mid-flight.

A logical combo: jump with the Rocket Boots to gain height and open the glider at the highest point. That’s our own suggestion; test it in your own save.

If you want more gliders besides the official one, the Not Enough Gliders mod adds more than eight gliders with their own abilities and already has a version for 0.7.

Rocket Boots: double jump

The Rocket Boots give you a double jump.

When to use them:

  • Climbing onto ledges without placing blocks.
  • Fixing a jump that came up short.
  • Dodging in combat. The Deepworks has flames and debris to dodge, and an extra jump gets you out of trouble.
  • Exploring breaches. The Goblin Breach has a time limit, and moving quickly across the terrain is time saved.

Heads up: the notes don’t give the height of the second jump or whether it has any cost, so test them on safe ground before trusting them over a cliff.

Hookshot and Hook Anchors: the grappling hook

The Hookshot is a grappling hook for moving between anchors, the Hook Anchors.

When to use it:

  • Gaps too wide to jump, even with the Rocket Boots.
  • Scaling walls where there’s an anchor at the top.
  • Routes around your base: if you can place anchors, a chain of them works as a shortcut between two points.

Heads up: the notes don’t clarify whether Hook Anchors are crafted and placed or only found in the world. If you can place them, plan the route ahead so you don’t leave gaps you can’t reach.

Don’t confuse the Hookshot with the Chain Hook rune: the rune pulls enemies toward a point and slows them; the gadget moves you. We explain the rune in our Hytale runes guide.

To climb without anchors, the Wall Climbing mod lets you climb any wall using stamina and has a version for 0.7.

Spyglass: see far away

The Spyglass lets you see far away.

When to use it:

  • Scouting before you get close to a goblin camp or a group of creatures.
  • Picking your next destination from a high point, before launching with the glider.
  • Keeping an eye on distant enemies. In 0.7, enemy health bars fade out beyond about 25–33 blocks; the spyglass helps you see what’s out there.

If you were using the Spyglass mod to get a spyglass, the game now has an official one. Consider whether you still need the mod.

Bangstick: the exploding stick

The Bangstick is a stick that explodes when thrown.

When to use it:

  • Groups of enemies. Throw it at clustered goblins before going into melee.
  • Trapped chests. The Guttering Hollows has chests that release waves of enemies. Keep a Bangstick handy before opening them.
  • Ranged support. Update 7 cuts crossbow damage quite a bit and makes attacking with them slow you down by 50%. A throwable explosive fills part of that gap.

Heads up: the notes don’t give the blast radius or damage. Throw it well away from you and test it in the open first. The notes also don’t say whether it breaks blocks, so be careful near your builds.

Goblin Repair Kit: repair without losing durability

The Goblin Repair Kit repairs items without reducing their max durability. That’s the big difference from the regular repair kit, which lowers the max with every use.

When to use it:

  • On your best gear. In 0.7 durability goes up a lot: adamantite and Ancient Steel weapons go from 180 to 500, and adamantite pickaxes from 400 to 1000. Losing max durability on those items is costly.
  • Before a dungeon. Bring it to The Deepworks so you don’t end up without a weapon in front of a boss.
  • If you used the regular kit a lot. Check how much max durability you’ve already lost and switch to the goblin kit from now on.

If you want to compare the ways to repair, it’s all in how to repair tools in Hytale.

Gadget stats the notes didn’t give

Since launch, the community wiki has filled in what the official notes left out. This is data from its edits between October 12 and 15, 2026, not official, and it may change with patches:

Gadget Durability Details
Scrap Drill 800 (previously 200) You have to get closer to the block than with a regular tool.
Scrap Glider 100 It opens when you equip it in midair and negates fall damage. If you run out of Stamina mid-flight, you fall.
Rocket Boots 120 They go in the legs slot.
Hookshot 80 It pulls you to a Hook Anchor and can also pull targets toward you.
Hook Anchor — It can be placed on any face of a block. It stacks to 100 and is flammable.
Spyglass — Hold right-click to zoom. Some predator events require it to progress.
Bangstick — It’s thrown in an arc. Explosion with 50 base damage and a 5-block radius, though in practice it tops out at around 41. It doesn’t break blocks, but it can start fires.
Goblin Repair Kit — Right-click opens a window to choose which item to repair. It stacks to 25.

This settles two questions we left open above. Hook Anchors can indeed be crafted and placed, so you can build your own grappling routes. And the Bangstick doesn’t break blocks: you can use it near your builds, just watch out for fire.

The Spyglass and hunts

The spyglass is more useful than it seemed. In The Guttering Hollows hunts it helps you spot the purple pillar that marks the predator in time, and in a breach every minute counts. You’ll find the bear hunt step by step in our Voidheart guide, and the upgrades that extend the breach in our Goblin Lab guide.

Which gadget to use in each situation

Situation Gadget
You need to get down a mountain Scrap Glider
A ledge just out of reach Rocket Boots
A chasm too wide to jump Hookshot (if there are anchors)
Digging a tunnel or leveling ground Scrap Drill
Seeing what’s in a distant camp Spyglass
A group of goblins or a trapped chest Bangstick
Your main weapon is about to break Goblin Repair Kit
A breach with barely any time left Rocket Boots and Scrap Glider to move fast

This table is our own suggestion based on what each gadget does according to the notes, not an official recommendation.
