What this mod does
In Hytale, farming is mostly for food. Life Crops, by Bingo20122, expands farming so it also gives you materials: plants that produce ores, crystals, magic essences or creature loot. It has over 43,000 downloads on CurseForge, and its version 2.0.2, from August 30, 2026, is released for Update 6 (0.6).
How it works
Everything revolves around Life Essence: you grow it, craft with it and unlock more powerful seeds as you go. There are two new benches:
- Life Well: where you craft the new seeds from Life Essence and other resources. Almost all the progression starts here.
- Life Forge: turns the essences you harvest into useful blocks and materials. It’s essential for the wood, stone and dirt crops, which give essence first.

- Life Essence and its concentrated version.
- Ores and crystal shards.
- Fire, ice, lightning, void and water essences.
- Wood, stone, dirt, flowers and mushrooms.
- Loot from passive and hostile creatures, without relying only on hunting.
- Eternal variants of the crops and their own infused soils.
Who it’s for
For players who enjoy building big farms and prefer progression based on farming rather than endless mining or hunting. There’s an optional add-on by the same author, LifeCrops: Automation, to automate your farm.
Checked on October 20, 2026: the author hasn’t yet released a file on CurseForge tagged for Hytale 0.7 (Update 7). We’ll check again and update this page as soon as it’s out.

Requirements
- Hytale (Early Access) on PC, version 0.6
- No other mods needed
- Optional: LifeCrops: Automation | https://www.curseforge.com/hytale/mods/lifecrops-automation
How to install it
- Open the Life Crops page on CurseForge and click Install to install it with the CurseForge app, or download the file LifeCrops-2.0.2.jar (version for 0.6) from the Files tab.
- If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into the mods folder: on Windows %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
- Open Hytale, right-click the world where you want to use it, tick Life Crops in the mod list and save the world settings.
- On a dedicated server, place the file in the server's mods folder and restart it.
- In game, start with Life Essence and the Life Well, where the new seeds are crafted; use the Life Forge to turn essences into materials.

Common problems
Where do I start?
With Life Essence: it's the base resource for crafting seeds at the Life Well. Check the recipes in game or on the wiki the author links to.
I've harvested wood essence and don't know how to use it
Wood, stone and dirt crops give essence first; turn it into material at the Life Forge.
Do I need LifeCrops: Automation?
No. It's an optional add-on for automating your farm.
