What this mod does
Keb’s Katanas, by Kebuki, adds the katana to Hytale as a new weapon type, with its own combat style. There are nine katanas based on the game’s ores, designed to fit into normal progression. It has over 158,000 downloads on CurseForge, and its version 0.4.4, from September 8, 2026, is released for Update 6 (0.6).
How you fight with them
- Five-hit combo chained together, designed for fluid combat.
- Charged slash: hold to sheathe the katana and release to unleash a forward dash.
- A signature attack that’s provisional for now, according to the author.
Crafting
The katanas are crafted at the Katana Forge, a dedicated bench built at the tier 1 Workbench. That’s also where you make nine new materials, such as the steel bar, mithril alloy and Fireheart. If other mods already give you mithril or onyxium, the author explains that you can trade them for these alloys with Klops the merchant at the Forgotten Temple.
The best katanas belong to a new rarity, Elite, which sits between epic and legendary, and the prisma katana glows and gives off light.
Compatibility
It’s compatible with Perfect Parries (optional dependency) and Simple Enchantments. It doesn’t need any other mod. It’s a work in progress: the author has legendary katanas with their own effects, sheaths, armor and enemies planned.
Update (Oct 12, 2026): with Update 7 (0.7) now out, the author has already released a compatible file: version 0.4.5 (October 12, 2026). What’s described on this page was tested with the previous version; check the author’s changelog in case anything has changed.

How to install it
- Open the Keb's Katanas page on CurseForge and click Install to install it with the CurseForge app, or download the file Kebs Katanas-0.4.5.zip (version for 0.6) from the Files tab.
- If you download it manually, copy the file as is, without unzipping it, into the mods folder: on Windows %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods.
- Open Hytale, right-click the world where you want to use it, tick Keb's Katanas in the mod list and save the world settings.
- On a dedicated server, place the file in the server's mods folder and restart it.
- In game, craft the Katana Forge at the tier 1 Workbench and, from there, the materials and the katana you want.

Common problems
I can't find the katanas at the Workbench
Since version 0.4.0 they're crafted at the Katana Forge, which you first have to build at the tier 1 Workbench.
How do I do the charged attack?
Hold attack to sheathe the katana and release it to unleash the dash slash.
Do I need Perfect Parries?
No. It's an optional dependency: if you have it installed, the katanas work with its blocking system.
Why does the special attack seem half-finished?
The author marks it as provisional, as with the Katana Forge model.
