What this mod does

Nitrado PerformanceSaver is a plugin from server host Nitrado that helps a Hytale server handle load spikes without crashing. Several players each exploring in a different direction can send CPU and memory usage through the roof; this plugin reacts to those situations.

What it does

  • Caps TPS: 20 with players online and 5 when the server is empty, because a stable TPS is better than a high but erratic one.
  • Dynamic view distance: if TPS drops or RAM runs low, it lowers it (minimum 2) and gradually raises it again as the server recovers.
  • Frees memory with an extra garbage collection when lots of chunks are unloaded.

Configuration

Everything is set in mods/Nitrado_PerformanceSaver/config.json, which is created on first startup. You can limit it to certain worlds and notify only players with permission about changes.

There’s one file per server version: 1.1.2+0.6.1 (August 28, 2026) is for 0.6.1, and there’s another one for 0.6.0. You don’t need to rent a server from Nitrado.

This mod page was checked with Hytale 0.6 (Update 6). With Update 7 (0.7), released on October 12, 2026, the mod will need an update: don’t use it in an important world until the author releases a file tagged for the new version.

Checked on October 20, 2026: the author hasn’t released a file tagged for Hytale 0.7 (Update 7) on CurseForge yet. We’ll check again and update this page as soon as it’s out.

Highlights and things to keep in mind

Highlights
  • Prevents crashes during load spikes with no intervention needed
  • Very lightweight (42.7 KB) and open source
  • Clear configuration with sensible defaults
Keep in mind
  • You have to pick the exact file for your server version
  • It lowers the view distance under heavy load, which players notice
  • No use in single-player games
  • With Update 7 (released October 12, 2026), you'll have to wait for a compatible version and update the mod

Requirements

  • Hytale 0.6.1 server (file nitrado-performance-saver-1.1.2+0.6.1.jar); there's a separate file for 0.6.0 (1.1.1+0.6.0)
  • No dependencies
  • Only makes sense on servers; in a single-player world it adds very little

How to install it

  1. From the Files tab of Nitrado PerformanceSaver, download the file that matches your server version (1.1.2+0.6.1 for 0.6.1).
  2. Stop the server and copy the .jar, without unzipping it, into the mods folder.
  3. Start it once so mods/Nitrado_PerformanceSaver/config.json is created.
  4. Adjust TpsLimit, TpsLimitEmpty and MinViewRadius if you don't like the default values, then restart.
  5. If you don't want players to see view distance change notices, set RequireNotifyPermission to true.

  3. 1.1.1+0.5.616 Jul 2026

Common problems

Is it only for Nitrado servers?

No. It's open source (MIT) and works on any Hytale server.

Why does the view distance suddenly drop?

That's the plugin's protection: it detects that CPU or RAM is running low and lowers it to avoid a crash. When the server recovers, it raises it again.

Which file do I download?

The one that matches your server: 1.1.2+0.6.1 for 0.6.1 or 1.1.1+0.6.0 for 0.6.0. The file name includes the server version.

Can I turn off a feature?

Yes, each block in config.json (Tps, ViewRadius and ChunkGarbageCollection) has its own Enabled option.
