What this mod does
Button’s Extra Trigger Action Stuff (BETAS), by Spiderbuttons, expands the tools that 1.6 gives Content Patcher mods. It adds triggers, actions, game state queries and tokenized text, so a mod can react to more things or do more when it reacts. According to Nexus, more than 100 mods use it. On its own it does nothing.
Examples of what it allows
- Reacting when you buy or sell an item, open a shop, read a book or pick up forage.
- Detecting when events start and end, when a save loads or when the phone rings.
- Showing dialogue and messages, giving experience, health or energy, or clearing objects and terrain from a map.
- Checking the player’s equipment, giant crops or whether an NPC is following their schedule.
Requirements and compatibility
It only needs SMAPI. Version 3.5.2 (September 11, 2026) fixes a bug with the SetNewDialogue action; 3.5.0 added event and phone triggers. Since 3.0.0 it works on Android, and the changelog includes multiplayer and split-screen fixes.
As a player, only install it if a mod asks for it. The documentation for authors is on the author’s website.

Requirements

How to install it
- Install SMAPI first (see its mod page) and launch the game with it once to make sure it works.
- Open the BETAS page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Button's Extra Trigger Action Stuff 3.5.2). You need a free Nexus account to download.
- Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
- Launch the game with SMAPI and check in the console that Button's Extra Trigger Action Stuff shows up in the list of loaded mods with no red errors.

Does it do anything on its own?
No. It gives tools to the Content Patcher mods that list it as a dependency.
Does it work on Android?
Yes, since 3.0.0, although the author warns it may become less of a priority over time.
Does it work in multiplayer?
The changelog includes multiplayer and split-screen fixes, so it's designed for it.
