Trinket Tinker for Stardew Valley

What this mod does

Trinket Tinker, by mushymato, is a framework for creating trinkets (the items introduced in 1.6) with animated companions and their own abilities, using only Content Patcher. According to Nexus, almost 50 mods use it. On its own it doesn’t add any trinkets.

What it allows

• Companions that follow the player with different movement patterns.
• Variants or alternate looks for each companion, even with hats.
• Abilities that are triggered by events and act through the companion.
• Effects from other C# mods via actions, and trinket effects without having the slot unlocked.

For players

It comes with keys to interact with the companion and open its inventory, options to hide it during events, and a console command to remove stuck trinkets.

Requirements and compatibility

It only needs SMAPI. Version 1.9.2 (August 27, 2026, 160 KB) is for 1.6.15 and works on Windows, Mac and Linux. On Android it only partly works: the inventory features fail. In multiplayer, everyone must use the same version and the same packs. The changelog mentions a Spanish translation. The creator guide and the code are on GitHub.

Requirements

• Stardew Valley 1.6.15 (Windows, Mac or Linux)
• SMAPI 4.x
• Content packs that use it (it does nothing on its own)

How to install it

1. Install SMAPI first (see its mod page) and launch the game with it once to make sure it works.
2. Open the Trinket Tinker page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (TrinketTinker 1.9.2). You need a free Nexus account to download.
3. Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
4. Install the trinket packs that use it and launch the game with SMAPI. In multiplayer, everyone must have the same version and the same packs.
