What this mod does
Cabin Dogs (Animated) is a mod by Rokanov that puts animated dogs in your truck’s cab in American Truck Simulator. It’s an updated port of Willet.inc’s Dog Mod for ETS2, made with their permission. The author made it because another author’s earlier port was outdated and didn’t cover most trucks. It has over 36,000 subscribers.
What’s included
- Three animated breeds as cab accessories: Shiba Inu, Border Collie and German Shepherd.
- The dogs cost more than other accessories, so they appear at the end of the list.
- Compatible with SCS’s 18 stock trucks as of 1.59, from the Freightliner Cascadia to the Western Star 57X; in May 2026 the author added the new Volvo.
- Also with mods: Harven’s Kenworth W990, Mack R Series and Freightliner FLB, and Overfloater’s Kenworth K100E.
Requirements
The author warns that you may need the Cabin Accessories DLC for them to work.
Version
The page says it’s compatible with the 1.59 stock trucks. The latest update is from May 15, 2026. In the comments, several users say it works for them on 1.60 and others are asking for an update. The author wants to add more breeds but says he’s short on time right now. It’s about 90 MB and commercial use is prohibited.

How to install it
- Open the “Cabin Dogs (Animated)” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish the download.
- Open your profile's Mod Manager and enable the mod.
- Go to a service shop, open the cab accessories and scroll to the end of the list to find the dogs.

I can't find the dogs
They're at the end of the accessories list because they cost more; you may need the Cabin Accessories DLC.
