What this mod does
Cummins Engine Sound is a mod by Sherman for American Truck Simulator. It replaces the sound of the Cummins engines on every SCS truck with the one from the International 9900i, which uses the Cummins ISX15 sound bank. It has over 18,000 subscribers.
Requirements
Steam lists the International 9900i DLC as required, because the sound comes from that truck. Without it, the mod doesn’t work.
Which trucks it covers
Every SCS truck with a Cummins engine: the tags include Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Mack, Peterbilt, Volvo and Western Star. In June 2025 the author added the Kenworth T680 2022, noting that it only works on 1.55.
Version
The description lists compatibility from 1.55 to 1.56. The latest update is from June 17, 2025. In March 2026 a player asked for 1.58 and got no reply.
Load order
The author asks you to place it at the very top of the Mod Manager.
Comments
A player said in 2022 that the engine brake sounds odd. The author points out that his mods are free and that he only publishes them on Steam Workshop. It’s about 124 KB.

How to install it
- Open the "Cummins Engine Sound" page on Steam Workshop and click "Subscribe".
- Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish the download.
- Open your profile's Mod Manager and enable the mod.
- Place it at the very top of the Mod Manager.
- Fit a Cummins engine on any SCS truck.
