What this mod does
Unhinged Message Signs, by AFKSleeping (GhostMode Studios), changes what American Truck Simulator’s highway electronic message signs display. Instead of the generic warnings, you’ll see 91 real messages, many of them funny, that have appeared on US roads.
What’s included
- Replaces the message list of 12 ATS sign models; they all use the same list.
- Messages rotate roughly every 8 seconds.
- Topics: left-lane campers, turn signals, speeding, phones while driving, seat belts and holiday traffic.
- It doesn’t modify the map, doesn’t add models and doesn’t need any external programs.
Where the messages come from
The author collected them from archives, contests, announcements, photos and news from departments of transportation such as those of Arizona, Nevada, Tennessee, Utah, Iowa, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania. He removed generic ones, ones tied to a specific place or date and duplicates, and includes a list of their sources. He only uses messages from public records.
Compatibility
It replaces the sign definitions, so it conflicts with other message mods. Place it above them or disable the other one. No version listed; it was released for 1.60.

How to install it
- Open the “Unhinged Message Signs” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish downloading the mod.
- Open your profile's Mod Manager and enable “Unhinged Message Signs”.
- If you use another message sign mod, place it below this one or disable it.
