What this mod does
Better Bindings is a small mod designed mainly for people who play with a steering wheel or real car controls. It adds control bindings the game doesn’t have out of the box, so cruise control and lights work like they do in a real car.
What it adds
- Cruise control with separate keys to set the speed, resume it and cancel it, without sharing a button with raising or lowering the target speed, as happens in many cars.
- Lights with direct actions to switch them to high beam, low beam or off, using functions the game already has.
How to use it
After installing it, the new actions appear under Options, Controls, in the Vehicle section, near the end of the list. Just bind them to keys or buttons on your wheel. The author says the inspiration came from the passenger missions on BeamMP’s CaRP server, where driving smoothly and without mistakes is key.
Who it’s for
If you drive with a wheel and turn signal or light stalks, it’ll save you from wrestling with the default bindings. One user says it works well for them with a wheel and a turn signal stalk, and that an earlier cruise control issue came from a conflict with the Mod Conflict Resolver mod.
Compatibility
Version 2.2 is from January 2026, and reviews from mid-2026 say it works perfectly. It weighs less than 60 KB.

Requirements

How to install it
- Open the Better Bindings page on the official BeamNG Repository.
- Click Download to get the .zip, or click Subscribe to install it from the in-game Repository.
- If you download it manually, copy the .zip (don't unzip it) into the mods folder in your user folder (AppData > Local > BeamNG > BeamNG.drive > current > mods; the launcher opens it with Manage User Folder).
- Launch the game and check in the Mod Manager that it's enabled.
- Go to Options > Controls > Vehicle and look for the new actions at the end of the list.
- Bind the keys or buttons on your wheel to cruise control and the lights.

Common problems
I can't find the new controls. Where are they?
In Options > Controls > Vehicle, near the end of the list.
Cruise control doesn't respond properly. What's wrong?
One user fixed it by removing a conflict with the Mod Conflict Resolver mod.
Does it work without a wheel?
Yes, you can bind the actions to the keyboard, although it's designed mainly for wheels.
