What this mod does
Tandem Drift Leader adds a computer-controlled drift partner for practicing tandem drifting. It’s a real physical car: it can make contact with you and take damage.
Two modes
- Leader: you record a run in any car and then get into an identical or similar one. The bot replays your inputs (steering, throttle, brake, handbrake, clutch and gears), and an invisible assist keeps it on your line and at your drift angle.
- Chaser: you drive and the bot follows you door to door, backs off during transitions and then closes back in. You can pick its personality (calm, normal or aggressive), its aggression and whether it starts behind you, on your left or on your right.
Contact and control
Light rubs are ignored; after a hard hit or a spin, the bot brakes to avoid crashing and then carries on. If you spin, stop or reverse, it waits and rejoins. Everything is handled from the Tandem Drift Leader app; the Enter key puts the leader at the start, repairs it and starts a countdown.
Tips and compatibility
Use the same car configuration for recording and playback, and save several runs. Recordings are tied to the map they were made on and are saved in settings/tandemDrift, with autosave every five seconds. The author has tested it on 0.40; it’s single-player only and includes a Russian version.

Requirements

How to install it
- Open the Tandem Drift Leader page on the official BeamNG Repository.
- Click Download to get the .zip, or subscribe from the in-game Repository (Subscribe button).
- If you download it manually, copy the .zip, without unzipping it, into the mods folder inside your BeamNG.drive user folder (the launcher opens it via Manage User Folder).
- Launch the game and check in the Mod Manager that it's enabled.
- Restart the game, press Esc, open UI Apps and add Tandem Drift Leader.
- Record a run, switch cars and press Enter to start the countdown.

Common problems
Does it work in BeamMP?
No; the author says it isn't made for multiplayer and that it's unlikely to be anytime soon.
Will I lose my recordings if I clear the cache?
No: since 1.0.2 they're saved in settings/tandemDrift and the launcher's Clear cache button no longer deletes them.
Can I change the keys?
Yes, in Options > Controls > Bindings, by searching for Tandem.
