What this mod does

The WLD FS30-2 is a heavy six-axle diesel-electric freight locomotive, presented as a model from Wentward’s fictional locomotive division. According to the description, the real type it’s based on was built between 1972 and 1989. It was its author’s first big mod and took him seven months.

What’s included

  • A 3000 hp V16 diesel engine that drives a generator for the traction motors.
  • Eight-notch throttle, dynamic braking and realistic engine and wheel squeal sounds.
  • Animated interior, engine tuning parts and racing parts.
  • 48 configurations and 11 liveries, with parody names of North American railroads.
  • Multiple-unit operation: several coupled locomotives, controlled from the first one.

How to use it

You need a map with tracks; the author suggests Las Colinas de Vapor, Sultan Peak or Polish Roads, among others. Start the engine, release the brakes, choose a direction and use the M1 and M2 gears. Dynamic braking barely works below 20 km/h. If it won’t move, it’s usually because the wheels have gotten stuck in the rail: lift it with the World Editor (F11) and try again.

Compatibility

The latest version is from December 2019, a fix for 0.18. A May 2026 review says it runs without problems, but others from 2024 and 2025 mention lights that don’t work and trouble placing it on the tracks.
