Euro Truck Simulator 3 has no release date because it hasn’t been announced (checked on October 22, 2026): SCS Software hasn’t confirmed any new game, trailer or Steam page. What is in the works is ETS2: version 1.62 in open beta since October 22, 2026, the Coaches bus DLC, and the arrival on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, still with no date. The «ETS3 release dates» and «ETS3 APKs» going around are rumors, fan edits or games from other studios.
What SCS has said about a Euro Truck Simulator 3
The clearest statement is still the one from Pavel Šebor, SCS co-founder and CEO, in an interview with PC Gamer in February 2019. He essentially said three things:
- That they had never committed to making a third installment.
- That if they ever made a new game, they would have to start it from scratch and improve everything they have to justify it.
- That they had neither the time nor the team for something like that, and that ETS2 had become a long-term platform they keep improving: engine, models, physics and scenery.
Since then, SCS hasn’t announced any ETS3 on its blog, on Steam or in its streams. As of October 2026, we haven’t found any more recent official statement that changes that position.

The engine: do you need a new game for new graphics?
Many people ask for ETS3 hoping for a graphics leap. SCS has chosen a different path: improving its in-house engine, Prism3D, within the current games. On its technical website, it explains that it develops the engine itself so it doesn’t depend on commercial engines, and that it keeps improving it.
In April 2026, in its video series about the consoles, the studio got more specific. Jakub Mráz, console producer, explained that they’re reorganizing the engine’s architecture and «bringing it up to date» with modern standards. Graphics programmer Petr Šebor added that the original code wasn’t designed to work with several processor cores at once, and that rewriting it entirely would be a huge task. That’s why they’re fixing it piece by piece while continuing to update the game.
In short: technical improvements come to ETS2 through free updates, not through a sequel.
Why ETS2 keeps getting updates
ETS2 came out in October 2012 and, as of October 2026, still gets new content every few months. There are several reasons:
- The map is the game. Europe has been built up over the years with paid expansions. A sequel would mean rebuilding that map or leaving behind what players have already bought. You can see everything released in our Euro Truck Simulator 2 DLC guide.
- Constant free updates. 1.61, released in September 2026, added a redesigned quick menu, a multifunction display, automatic discovery of nearby roads on the map and a rebuilt livestock trailer, as well as preparing bus stations for Coaches.
- New types of gameplay within ETS2. Coaches will bring passenger transport with timetables and licensed coaches (Scania Touring, Volvo 9700 DD and MAN Lion’s Coach, according to its Steam page).
- The consoles. The PS5 and Xbox project is based on ETS2 and ATS, not on new games. We explain it in Euro Truck Simulator 2 on PS5 and Xbox.
- Mods. The community maintains huge projects like ProMods that depend on the current version of the game.
What it means for you
If you were waiting for ETS3 to get started, don’t wait: ETS2 is the current game and SCS keeps investing in it. What is coming to ETS2 (October 2026)
- 1.62 open beta (October 22, 2026): revamped garages across the map, the improved material system comes to the Iveco S-Way, three new DAF XG+ editions and changes to the in-game radio.
- Coaches: the bus DLC already has gameplay videos (Scania Touring) and will be playable at Poznań Game Arena (October 23–25), but it still has no date. We sum it up in ETS2 Coaches.
- Iceland: new map DLC with gameplay previews released in October 2026.
- UK rework: SCS keeps rebuilding British cities; the latest one shown is Edinburgh (October 21, 2026).

Watch out for «Euro Truck Simulator 3» on Google Play and YouTube
On Google Play there are apps with names like «Euro Truck Simulator 3D 2026» that aren’t from SCS Software, but from other studios using the name to attract downloads. SCS doesn’t release its simulators on mobile: neither ETS2 nor an ETS3 has an official Android or iPhone version (we explain it in ETS2 for Android). The same goes for the «ETS3 trailers» on YouTube: they’re fan concepts or edits using ETS2 footage.
