What this mod does
HUNGARY_MAP is the map of Hungary that Frank007 has been developing since 2013. Its thread on the SCS forum is one of the most visited in the maps section, with more than 1.3 million views and over 3,000 posts. The current version is 0.9.40, updated for ETS2 1.60.
What 0.9.40 includes
- About 70 Hungarian cities; the author eventually wants to go past 300.
- 1.60 compatibility, lots of bug fixes and new building models.
- Its own traffic: several players in the thread mention that the map comes with a built-in traffic system and that traffic mods don’t affect it.
Download and installation
It’s a big download, about 3.5 GB split into two files (.7z.001 and .7z.002). Download both, open only the 001 file with 7-Zip, and the program will join them and extract three files: hungary_base, hungary_model and hungary_def. The author insists that you read the description and instructions before launching the game.
Before you install it
It’s made for 1.60; the first post doesn’t have a 1.61 version yet. It also doesn’t list required DLC or ProMods compatibility, so the safe bet is to play it on a separate profile. There’s also a dedicated server for playing it in Convoy, although it’s listed with the previous version (1.59).

How to install it
- Open the official thread on the SCS forum and follow the link to the 0.9.40 download post.
- Download both parts: HUNGARY_MAP_byFrank007_v0.9.40_1.60.x.7z.001 and .7z.002.
- Open only the .001 file with 7-Zip; it will also extract the .002 and join them.
- Check that you get hungary_base, hungary_model and hungary_def (.scs).
- Copy the three files into Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod and read the thread's description before you start.
- Enable them in the Mod Manager.

Common problems
Does it work on 1.61?
0.9.40 is released for ETS2 1.60. As of October 7, 2026, the first post doesn't announce a 1.61 version.
Why are there two files?
The map takes up about 3.5 GB and is split into two 7z parts. Open only the 001 part with 7-Zip.
Can I use traffic mods?
According to several players in the thread, the map has its own traffic and traffic mods don't affect it.
How many cities does it have?
