What this mod does
Realistic Economy, by Quper, is a complete overhaul of the ETS2 economy so that money is hard-earned and your company decisions carry weight. The SCS forum thread offers a dedicated file for 1.61 and another for versions 1.50–1.55.
What it changes
- Freight rates recalculated for every job type (including World of Trucks jobs) and higher pay for special loads.
- Prices per trailer type readjusted so you choose based on taste, not profitability.
- Level-based loans: €10,000 after your first job, €20,000 at level 3, €30,000 at level 5 and €100,000 at level 10.
- Revised experience, level-ups and skill bonuses.
- Cheaper used trucks, with a bigger price gap depending on wear, and garages with new prices.
- Diesel at market prices that the author updates every week, real exchange rates, new fines and cheaper tolls and ferries.
- Almost all parts and paint jobs unlocked and cheaper accessories; tires that wear out faster.
Getting started
With a new profile you start with €0. Put the mod above everything else, especially maps. The author recommends his Remover Ferries add-on.
Compatibility
It doesn’t work with other economy mods. The thread doesn’t mention ProMods or saves in progress: you’re better off using a new profile.

- No version number of its own: go by the game version of the file
Requirements
- Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.61 (there's a separate file for 1.50–1.55)
- No other economy mod active
How to install it
- Open Quper's thread on the SCS forum.
- Choose your download: Steam Workshop, TruckyMods or the ShareMods link marked "Only 1.61".
- Copy the .scs file to Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod (not needed with Steam).
- In the Mod Manager, place it above all the others, especially maps.
- Create a new profile to start with €0 and the new economy from the beginning.

Common problems
Is it a money cheat?
No. It's the opposite: it makes the economy tougher and you start with no money.
Can I combine it with another economy mod?
No; the author says it's incompatible.
How much can I borrow?
€10,000 after your first job, €20,000 at level 3, €30,000 at level 5 and €100,000 at level 10.
Is there an ATS version?
Yes, Quper has a version for American Truck Simulator on Steam Workshop.
