Animated Food and Drinks for Stardew Valley

What this mod does

Animated Food and Drinks is the companion to Animated Fish, by the same author, Gervig91. Instead of fish, it animates the icons of 70 foods and drinks: coffee and tea give off steam, pizza bubbles and many dishes come to life in your inventory.

Options

• Each animation can be turned on or off in config.json.
• Some dishes have several versions (for example, Pizza1 and Pizza2); only one can be active per item.
• Speed is changed with AnimationFrameTime in content.json.
• Includes animations for the Animal Husbandry Mod recipes.

Requirements and compatibility

Since 3.5.0 (January 1, 2025, 166 KB) it needs SMAPI, Content Patcher and SpaceCore. The author asks you to delete the previous version before updating.

It conflicts with mods that change the icons of those same foods, though you can disable any animations that overlap. The page doesn’t mention multiplayer, Android or translations; it has practically no text. Permissions are open: the author lets you use his assets with credit, except in paid mods. If you like the idea, it pairs nicely with Animated Fish to bring almost your whole inventory to life.

How to install it

1. First install SMAPI, Content Patcher and SpaceCore (see their mod pages) and launch the game once with SMAPI to check that everything loads.
2. Open the Animated Food and Drinks page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Animated Food and Drinks 3.5.0). You need a free Nexus account to download.
3. Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder inside the game folder. If you had an older version, delete it first instead of overwriting it.
4. Launch the game with SMAPI so config.json is generated, then disable the animations you don't want there or choose the version of each dish.
