What this mod does
Elle’s Kitchen Replacement swaps the look of the farmhouse kitchen for a much more customizable one. It’s one of the classic mods by Elle (junimods), released in 2018 and updated for 1.6.
What you can choose
- Wood or tile countertops.
- Ten colors for cabinets and wood, twenty for tiles, four for appliances and four for handles.
- Separate settings for the farmhouse, the cabins and the Ginger Island house.
- An optional retexture of the Mini-Fridge and the island kitchen so they match.
Requirements and compatibility
It needs SMAPI and Content Patcher. File 1.1.6 (March 31, 2024, 284 KB) is for 1.6 only and fixes the kitchen sometimes not showing up in cabins and the island house.
In multiplayer, the farmhouse option applies to the host’s house; cabins have their own settings. Everything is chosen in config.json: if it isn’t generated, for example when using a mod manager, rename example_config.json to config.json. It conflicts with other mods that change the kitchen. It pairs well with DaisyNiko’s Earthy Interiors if you want to refresh the whole interior. It has no text to translate.

How to install it
- First install SMAPI and Content Patcher (see their mod pages) and launch the game once with SMAPI to check that everything loads.
- Open the Elle's Kitchen Replacement page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Kitchen Replacement 1.1.6). You need a free Nexus account to download.
- Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder inside the game folder. If you had an older version, delete it first instead of overwriting it.
- Launch the game with SMAPI so config.json is generated, close it and choose the countertop, colors, appliances and handles for the farmhouse, cabins and island there. If it isn't generated, rename example_config.json to config.json.
