Elle’s Grass Replacement for Stardew Valley

What this mod does

Elle’s Grass Replacement is a simple grass retexture by Elle (junimods), author of Elle’s Seasonal Buildings and the «Cuter» animals. It recolors the grass in all four seasons, including winter, with brighter tones, and by default makes it shorter so the farm looks less cluttered.

Options

• In config.json you choose between short grass (Short) or the original height (Tall).
• To uninstall it, delete the mod folder.

Requirements and compatibility

It needs SMAPI and Content Patcher. File 1.1.2 (March 22, 2024, 33 KB) is for 1.6 only. The author explains that she remade it for this version, so the texture and colors differ slightly from the previous one.

Since it changes the grass texture, it conflicts with other mods that do the same, including map recolors that bring their own grass, such as DaisyNiko’s Earthy Recolour or Vibrant Pastoral Redrawn; in that case, turn off the grass in one of the two. The page doesn’t mention multiplayer or Android. It pairs well with Elle’s Dirt and Cliff Recolor, by the same author. It has no text to translate.

How to install it

1. First install SMAPI and Content Patcher (see their mod pages) and launch the game once with SMAPI to check that everything loads.
2. Open the Elle's Grass Replacement page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Grass Replacement 1.1.2). You need a free Nexus account to download.
3. Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder inside the game folder. If you had an older version, delete it first instead of overwriting it.
4. Launch the game once with SMAPI so config.json is generated, close it, type Short or Tall in the grass option and launch it again.
