What this mod does
Farm Animal Facelift, by siamece, touches up every barn and coop animal with smoother sprites and adds new breeds and colors for each one. It’s part of the author’s «Facelift» series.
What it offers
- Holstein, highland or black cows; Suffolk or bighorn sheep; Tamworth or spotted pigs; goats and rabbits in lots of colors.
- Void variants for almost every animal and a «space» version of the Void Chicken.
- Each animal has a «vanilla» option that turns off its changes to avoid conflicts with other mods.
Versions
There are three 1.3.0 files (May 3, 2024). In Main you choose one look per animal in config.json; Skins uses a 1.6 feature to give each animal a random look when you buy it; and the AT version, for Alternative Textures, lets you choose it with the scissors Robin sells and can be combined with the other two.
Requirements and compatibility
It needs SMAPI and Content Patcher. The mobile version is from 2021 and the author doesn’t guarantee it works. It’s an alternative to Elle’s Cuter Barn Animals; if you use both, set the animals covered by the other mod to «vanilla».

Highlights and things to keep in mind
- Lots of breeds and colors for each animal
- Three ways to use it: fixed, random or with scissors
- Vanilla option per animal to avoid conflicts
- Open permissions with credit
- The mobile version is old and comes with no guarantees
- Configured by editing config.json
Requirements
- Stardew Valley 1.6.x (PC)
- SMAPI 4.x
- Content Patcher
- Optional: Alternative Textures (AT version)
How to install it
- First install SMAPI and Content Patcher (see their mod pages) and launch the game once with SMAPI to check that everything loads.
- Open the Farm Animal Facelift page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file ((CP) Farm Animal Facelift 1.3.0 or the Skins version). You need a free Nexus account to download.
- Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder inside the game folder. If you had an older version, delete it first instead of overwriting it.
- If you want to choose each animal's look in your save, install Alternative Textures and also download (AT) Farm Animal Facelift from Optional files.
- Launch the game with SMAPI so config.json is generated and choose each animal's look there (with the Main version), or leave it on vanilla for the ones you don't want to change.

With Main you choose a fixed look per animal type; Skins gives each animal a random look when you buy it.

Yes, by setting to vanilla the animals you want to leave to another mod.
Does it work on Android?
There's a mobile version from 2021, but the author doesn't guarantee it works.
