Wenhua’s Character Portraits – Marriable Villagers for Stardew Valley

What this mod does

Wenhua’s Character Portraits is a pack of high-definition, anime-style portraits for Stardew Valley’s marriage candidates. The author, Wenhua, says she’ll release portraits for the rest of the town later on.

How it works

• It’s not a Content Patcher mod: it’s a pack for Portraiture, Platonymous’s mod that lets you use higher-resolution portraits.
• The pack folder goes inside Portraiture’s Portraits subfolder.
• In-game, the P key switches between the available portraits.

Requirements and compatibility

It needs the latest version of SMAPI and of Portraiture; the author warns that it doesn’t work with outdated versions. Portraiture appears with no breakage warnings on the SMAPI compatibility list. The CP_Wenhua file (June 22, 2024, 21.7 MB) is the 1.6 version, and the page tags it as compatible with it.

Since Portraiture lets you have several packs and switch between them with the key, you can combine it with other portraits without touching the game files. The description is in Chinese, and the author posts updates on Bilibili and Xiaohongshu. It has no text to translate.

Requirements

• Stardew Valley 1.6.x (PC)
• SMAPI 4.x (the latest version)
• Portraiture (the latest version)

How to install it

1. First install SMAPI (see its mod page) and Portraiture, and launch the game once with SMAPI so Portraiture creates its folders.
2. Open the Wenhua's Character Portraits page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (CP_Wenhua). You need a free Nexus account to download.
3. Unzip the .zip outside the game folder.
4. Move the pack folder into the Portraits folder inside the Portraiture folder, in the Mods folder inside the game folder.
5. Launch the game with SMAPI, talk to a marriage candidate and press P until Wenhua's portraits show up.
