What this mod does
Way Back Pelican Town is the town companion to Medieval Buildings: the same author, Gweniaczek, redraws the buildings, structures and decor of Pelican Town with a rustic look and seasonal changes, plus the Desert and Ginger Island.
What’s included
- Every building in town and most decorative elements, big and small.
- Since 2.0, almost every festival and Ginger Island.
- Options in
config.jsonto leave JojaMart, the bus and the green pickup truck unchanged. - Palettes designed for the vanilla game and for recolors like DaisyNiko’s Earthy Recolour or Vibrant Pastoral.
Requirements and compatibility
It needs SMAPI and Content Patcher. The 2.0 main file (April 14, 2024, 51.4 MB) is for 1.6; there’s another one for 1.5 and Android. The page marks it as Android compatible.
The author prioritizes the vanilla town map: with mods that change it, such as Stardew Valley Expanded, you may see odd tiles. An optional pack adds textures for Museum Expansion and IF2Fix, both tested by the author. Add Gwen’s Medieval Craftables to complete the set.

How to install it
- First install SMAPI and Content Patcher (see their mod pages) and launch the game once with SMAPI to check that everything loads.
- Open the Way Back Pelican Town page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Way Back Pelican Town 2.0, the one for 1.6). You need a free Nexus account to download.
- Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder inside the game folder. If you had an older version, delete it first instead of overwriting it.
- If you use Museum Expansion or IF2Fix, also download Way Back PT Compatibility Pack from Optional files and follow its instructions.
- Launch the game with SMAPI so config.json is generated and, if you like, turn off the JojaMart, bus or truck changes there.
