What this mod does
Vanilla Tweaks – Interface Edition, by Taiyo and Airyn, touches up small graphic elements of the interface without straying from the game’s original style. It’s part of the Vanilla Tweaks series, which has separate editions for crops, caves, machines, aquarium and combat.
What it changes
- Inventory tab and skill icons, including the 1.6 animals and special perks tabs.
- Redraws the wallet items (keys, guides and other special items).
- New quality stars for silver, gold and iridium, and new sprites for skill books.
- A less bright icons option, which you turn on in the config.
Requirements and compatibility
It requires SMAPI and Content Patcher. Version 1.2.0 (October 6, 2024, 189 KB) is marked as compatible with 1.6. You change the options in the config.json created when you open the game once, or from Generic Mod Config Menu, which the page recommends.
It includes compatibility patches for popular recolored interfaces, such as Vibrant Pastoral‘s, DaisyNiko’s Earthy Interface, Overgrown Flowery Interface, Vintage Interface or Starry Blue UI. The page lists no known issues. Since it only changes images, it doesn’t affect the game’s text in any language.

How to install it
- Install SMAPI and Content Patcher first (see their mod pages) and launch the game once with SMAPI to make sure everything loads.
- Open the Vanilla Tweaks - Interface Edition page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Vanilla Tweaks - Interface Edition 1.2.0). You need a free Nexus account to download.
- Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
- Launch the game once with SMAPI. Change the options in the generated config.json or, if you have Generic Mod Config Menu, from the mod menu.

No. It aims to keep the original look and only polishes icons, wallet items and quality stars.
