Elle’s Cuter Dogs for Stardew Valley

What this mod does

Elle’s Cuter Dogs, by Elle (junimods), uses the 1.6 pet breed system to add new dogs instead of replacing the originals. It’s the canine version of Elle’s Cuter Cats.

What it adds

• Up to 366 looks spread across about 43 breeds, such as corgi, German shepherd, golden retriever or Shiba Inu, in several colors.
• A «void» variant of each breed, inspired by the Void Chicken.
• A matching head icon for each look and support for pet hats.
• Configurable adoption price (40,000g by default, as in the game).

Setup and compatibility

It needs SMAPI and Content Patcher. In config.json you choose which breeds to enable, using the images in the References folder as a guide. File 1.0.2 (April 11, 2026, 4 MB) is for 1.6 only.

In multiplayer, every player must have the mod with the same breeds enabled; otherwise you may get errors or crashes. To change a pet you already have, in 1.6 you need to adopt another one at Marnie’s Ranch or use Krobus’s Butterfly Powder. It’s compatible with Alternative Textures.

How to install it

1. First install SMAPI and Content Patcher (see their mod pages) and launch the game once with SMAPI to check that everything loads.
2. Open the Elle's Cuter Dogs page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Cuter Dogs 1.0.2). You need a free Nexus account to download.
3. Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder inside the game folder. If you had an older version, delete it first instead of overwriting it.
4. Launch the game with SMAPI so config.json is generated, close it and type the breeds you want in it, separated by commas. If it isn't generated, rename example_config.json to config.json (alloptions_config.json enables all of them).
