What this mod does
Destroyable Bushes, by Esca-MMC, lets you destroy bushes with your axe, something the base game doesn’t allow. It’s ideal for clearing paths or redesigning parts of your farm without relying on map mods.
How it works
- By default, any axe will do; bushes drop a bit of wood and grow back after 3 days.
- Chopping them gives foraging experience, a little less than a tree, and the Woody’s Secret book also affects the wood they drop.
- You can choose the required axe upgrade, the damage, the toughness of each bush size, when they grow back, which types are protected and where they can be destroyed.
Requirements and compatibility
It only needs SMAPI. Version 1.5.2 (May 8, 2025, 43 KB) is built for 1.6.15 and has no code changes from the previous one: it adds a Russian translation. You configure it with config.json or with Generic Mod Config Menu. Nexus marks it as Android-compatible.
In multiplayer, each player applies their own options, but bushes only grow back if the host has the mod, and they follow the host’s settings. It also includes console commands to create or remove bushes. There’s a Spanish translation by Gonzy42 on Nexus.

Requirements
- Stardew Valley 1.6.15 (PC; Nexus also marks it as Android-compatible)

How to install it
- First install SMAPI (see its mod page) and launch the game once with it to check that it works.
- Open the Destroyable Bushes page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Destroyable Bushes v1.5.2). You need a free Nexus account to download.
- Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder inside the game folder.
- Launch the game with SMAPI so it generates config.json. Adjust the options in that file or, if you have Generic Mod Config Menu, from the mod options menu.

Common problems
Do I need an upgraded axe?
Not by default: any axe works. You can require an upgrade with the AxeUpgradesRequired option.
Do bushes disappear forever?
Not by default: they grow back after 3 days. You can change that with the WhenBushesRegrow option.
Does it work in multiplayer?
Yes. Bushes only grow back if the host has the mod, and they follow the host's options.
