What this mod does
More Grass, by Sonozuki, is a SMAPI framework for varying the game’s grass. It lets other mods add new grass sprites through content packs and lets each player decide which seasons grass exists and spreads in, including winter.
What it does
- Loads custom grass from content packs, such as Wildflower Grass Field or Lumisteria More Flowery Grass.
- Lets you choose which seasons grass lives in and which ones it grows in.
- Keeps a percentage of the original grass, supports location whitelists or blacklists, and lets you decide whether animals can eat it.
Requirements and compatibility
It’s a C# mod that only needs SMAPI. File 1.2.2 (March 21, 2024, 25 KB) is for SMAPI 4.0 or later, appears on the SMAPI compatibility list with no warnings and carries the 1.6-compatible tag. It can load the grass after Content Patcher edits and is compatible with Winter Grass.
On its own it changes little: you’ll usually install it because a grass pack requires it. The changelog includes fixes so farmhands see the grass correctly in multiplayer. Its 15 dependent mods show how widely it’s used. It has no text to translate; the guide for creating packs is on the author’s GitHub.

Requirements
- Stardew Valley 1.6.x (PC)
- SMAPI 4.0 or later
- A compatible grass pack to make use of it
How to install it
- First install SMAPI (see its mod page) and launch the game once with it to check that it works.
- Open the More Grass page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (More Grass 1.2.2). You need a free Nexus account to download.
- Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the MoreGrass folder into the Mods folder inside the game folder.
- Also install the grass pack you want to use, following the instructions on its page.
- Launch the game with SMAPI so config.json is generated and adjust seasons, locations and the original grass percentage there.

Does it do anything without content packs?
It lets you configure grass seasons and locations, but its main job is loading grass from other mods.
Can there be grass in winter?
Yes, you choose which seasons grass lives and grows in.
How do I uninstall it?
Delete the MoreGrass folder from the Mods folder.
