No Fence Decay Redux for Stardew Valley

What this mod does

No Fence Decay Redux, by EnderTedi, removes one of the game’s small annoyances: fence decay. In Stardew Valley, wood, stone and iron fences break over time and need replacing; with this mod they last forever.

What it does

• Removes decay from every type of fence.
• Since 1.1.0 it also fully repairs fences you had already placed before installing it.
• 1.2.0 fixes fence gates still decaying.

It’s especially handy if you decorate your farm or the town with fences, or if you don’t want to keep an eye on your animal pens. You can still remove fences with the axe or pickaxe as usual.

Requirements and compatibility

It only needs SMAPI 4.0 or later. It’s a spiritual successor to the old No Fence Decay, built from scratch for 1.6: version 1.2.0 (June 8, 2024, 11 KB) carries the compatible tag and has no open bugs on Nexus. The source code is published on GitHub.

It has no config and no text to translate. The page doesn’t mention multiplayer or Android, so in co-op saves the safe bet is for every player to install it.

Requirements

• Stardew Valley 1.6.x (PC)
• SMAPI 4.0 or later

How to install it

1. Install SMAPI first (see its page) and launch the game once with it to make sure it works.
2. Open the No Fence Decay Redux page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (No Fence Decay Redux 1.2.0). You need a free Nexus account to download.
3. Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
4. Launch the game with SMAPI and load your save: existing fences get repaired and will stop decaying.
