Better Quarry Redux for Stardew Valley

What this mod does

Better Quarry Redux, by Strobe, makes the mountain Quarry worth the trip. In the base game the Quarry gives few useful rocks; with this mod a fixed number of geodes, ores and gems spawn every day, so it becomes a reliable source of materials.

What it changes

• Daily spawning of geodes, ores and gems on the Quarry tiles.
• Since 1.1.0 it includes every ore and Quarry item from the game’s 1.5 and 1.6 versions.
• Ores can also spawn on the farm.

It’s a revision inspired by Nishtra’s old Better Quarry, which its author considers abandoned.

Requirements and compatibility

It’s a content pack for Farm Type Manager, so it needs that mod and SMAPI. Version 1.1.3 (June 7, 2024, 2 KB) only fixes the manifest; 1.1.2 stopped ores from spawning outside the Quarry. There are no open bugs on Nexus.

The page doesn’t carry the 1.6 compatible tag, but the mod was updated in 2024 with the 1.6 items and Farm Type Manager works on the current version. It doesn’t mention config, multiplayer, Android or translations. If you’re after a challenge, keep in mind that it makes getting minerals quite a bit easier.

Requirements

• Stardew Valley 1.6.x (PC)
• SMAPI 4.x (the latest version)
• Farm Type Manager

How to install it

1. Install SMAPI first (see its page) and launch the game once with it to make sure it works.
2. Also install Farm Type Manager (see its page).
3. Open the Better Quarry Redux page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Better Quarry Redux 1.1.3). You need a free Nexus account to download.
4. Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
5. Launch the game with SMAPI and visit the mountain Quarry the next day; it unlocks when you repair the mountain bridge.
