What this mod does
Horse Flute Anywhere is a mod by Pathoschild, the author of SMAPI, that fixes a common annoyance: your horse is only useful when it’s nearby. With this mod you can summon it anywhere, even in the deepest levels of the mines or indoors where it normally can’t appear.
How to use it
- Press
H(configurable) to make your horse appear next to you. - It also works with the base game’s horse flute, which is no longer limited to certain maps.
- You change the options in the
config.jsonor, if you have Generic Mod Config Menu, from in-game.
It’s especially handy with mods that add big maps, like Stardew Valley Expanded or Ridgeside Village, where walking around takes ages.
Requirements and compatibility
It requires SMAPI 4.1.10 or later. Version 1.3.6 (March 15, 2026, 98 KB) requires Stardew Valley 1.6.15 or later and works on Windows, Mac and Linux, in single player, multiplayer and split screen. It includes translations for non-English-speaking players, Nexus tags it with Spanish, and Gonzy42 also publishes a separate Spanish translation. The page doesn’t mention Android.

How to install it
- Install SMAPI first (see its page) and launch the game once with it to make sure it works.
- Optional: install Generic Mod Config Menu to change the hotkey from in-game.
- Open the Horse Flute Anywhere page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Horse Flute Anywhere 1.3.6). You need a free Nexus account to download.
- Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
- Launch the game with SMAPI, make sure you have a horse and press H anywhere to call it.

Common problems
Do I need the horse flute?
No. The H key is enough; the base game's flute also works anywhere.
