Recatch Legendary Fish for Stardew Valley

What this mod does

Recatch Legendary Fish is a small mod by cantorsdust and Pathoschild with a simple idea: in the base game, each legendary fish can only be caught once per save, even if you go back to its hiding spot. With this mod you can catch them as many times as you want.

What it changes

• Legendaries bite again in their usual spots and conditions after the first catch.
• You still earn the fishing achievements as normal.
• The config is optional and documented in the mod’s GitHub repository.

It’s useful if you want to fill fish ponds, complete orders or simply repeat the challenge of those tough fish. If you prefer the original balance, keep in mind that selling duplicate legendaries earns quite a lot of money.

Requirements and compatibility

It only needs SMAPI 4.1.10 or later. Version 1.9.3 (March 15, 2026, 25 KB) requires Stardew Valley 1.6.15 or later and works on Windows, Mac and Linux, in single player, multiplayer and split screen; in multiplayer it only affects players who have it installed. According to the page it has no known conflicts and there are no open bugs. Nexus tags it with Spanish among its languages.

Requirements

• SMAPI 4.1.10 or later

How to install it

1. Install SMAPI first (see its page) and launch the game once with it to make sure it works.
2. Open the Recatch Legendary Fish page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Recatch Legendary Fish 1.9.3). You need a free Nexus account to download.
3. Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
4. Launch the game with SMAPI and go back to the spot of a legendary you already caught: it can bite again.
