What this mod does

Swim, by aedenthorn, lets you jump into any body of water in Stardew Valley: the ocean, the rivers or the mountain lake. Besides swimming, you can dive to look for treasure and swim among colorful fish.

What it adds

  • Get in and out of the water with the J key, dive with H and put on or take off your swimsuit with K.
  • Use tools while swimming and change maps by swimming to the edge.
  • An oxygen meter based on your max energy.
  • Diving requires the optional Dive Maps file from the same page.

Keys and the rest of the options are changed in config.json.

Requirements and compatibility

It only needs SMAPI. Version 4.0.2 (October 16, 2026, 509 KB) fixes a bug; 4.0.0 was a rewrite so the mod would stop breaking save serialization, the most serious problem in earlier versions. It’s tagged as compatible with 1.6.

The changelog includes multiplayer fixes, but the page doesn’t say whether every player needs it. It doesn’t confirm Android either. There are 47 open bug reports, which is normal for a mod this size, but it’s a good idea to back up your save.

Common problems

Can I dive without installing anything else?

No. To dive you need the optional Dive Maps file from the same page.

Does it damage my save?

Older versions caused save problems; 4.0.0 was rewritten specifically to prevent that. Even so, back up before installing it.

Can I change the keys?

Yes, in the config.json that's created when you launch the game with the mod.
