What this mod does
Skill Prestige, by CinderGarde, extends progression once all your skills are maxed out. When you reach level 10 you can «prestige» a skill: it goes back to 0 and in exchange you get a prestige point to buy professions permanently.
How it works
- Level 5 professions cost 1 point; level 10 professions cost 2 and require the matching level 5 one.
- Points can only be spent on the skill that earned them.
- You use it from a prestige statue crafted with 10 stone.
- Options to reset recipes, earn more experience for each unspent point, change costs or use «Painless Prestige» mode.
Requirements and compatibility
It requires SMAPI 4.0, Content Patcher and SpaceCore. Version 1.4.3 (May 19, 2024, 122 KB) adds a generic adapter for all SpaceCore skills, like the cooking or archaeology skills from other mods.
On Nexus it carries both the compatible and the broken tags for 1.6; SMAPI’s compatibility list doesn’t mark it as broken, but it does mark its old Luck Skill adapter as broken. In multiplayer the host must have it to save the data. It’s English only.

Requirements
- Stardew Valley 1.6.x (PC)
- SMAPI 4.0 or later
- Content Patcher
- SpaceCore 1.23.1 or later
How to install it
- Install SMAPI first (see its page) and launch the game once with it to make sure it works.
- Also install Content Patcher and SpaceCore (see their pages).
- Open the Skill Prestige page on Nexus Mods, go to the Files tab and click Manual download on the main file (Skill Prestige 1.4.3 beta). You need a free Nexus account to download.
- Unzip the .zip outside the game folder and move the resulting folder into the Mods folder, inside the game folder.
- If you're coming from a version older than 1.4, back up your data.json and delete the SkillPrestige.Yacs folder, as the file says.
- Launch the game with SMAPI, craft the prestige statue (10 stone) and use it once you have a skill at level 10.

Common problems
Do I lose my professions when I prestige?
The professions you buy with points are permanent; the skill goes back to 0 so you can level it up again.
Does it work with skills from other mods?
Yes, 1.4.3 adds a generic adapter for SpaceCore skills. The old Luck Skill adapter is broken on 1.6.
Does it work in multiplayer?
Yes, but the host must have it installed to save the data to the savegame.
