Not officially. As of October 23, 2026, Valve rates Assetto Corsa as «Unsupported» on Steam Deck: its report says SteamOS doesn’t support the game. Even so, on ProtonDB, the community database, it has a Gold rating with 545 reports, meaning plenty of players get it running with Proton. Cars and tracks install the same way as on PC, in steamapps/common/assettocorsa/content; the tricky part is Content Manager and Custom Shaders Patch, which are Windows programs and on the Deck rely on Proton with no official support.

Checked on October 23, 2026. «Unsupported» means Valve considers that the game, or part of it, doesn’t work on the Deck out of the box. It doesn’t stop you from installing it: you can try it, but with no guarantee from Valve or KUNOS.
How the community gets it running
What the ProtonDB reports show is that the game launches with Proton forced: in the game’s Properties, under Compatibility, check the box to force a compatibility tool and pick a Proton version. There’s no official configuration or recommended graphics settings for the Deck, because KUNOS doesn’t support SteamOS and Valve rates it as unsupported.
With the original KUNOS launcher you can race with official content and simple mods. The trouble starts with Content Manager and Custom Shaders Patch, which many modern mods require. There are community scripts that install them on Linux, such as assettocorsa-linux-setup on GitHub (it installs Proton-GE, Content Manager, CSP and fonts). In its Steam thread, Steam Deck users report issues: broken car images, «File not found» errors when launching from Content Manager, and permission problems with external drives. It’s an unofficial solution: read the script carefully before running it and back up your files.
How to install Assetto Corsa mods on the Steam Deck
Car and track mods don’t depend on Windows: they’re folders you copy into the game. In Desktop Mode (Steam button, Power menu, Switch to Desktop):
- Download the mod from its author’s official page and extract it with Ark.
- In Dolphin, press Ctrl + H to show hidden folders and go to
/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/assettocorsa/content. - Copy the car into
content/cars/car_nameand the track intocontent/tracks/track_name, with no intermediate folders: the data.acd (or the data folder) and the .kn5 files must sit directly inside. - Go back to Game Mode and look for it in the car or track selection.
If the game is on the microSD card, the steamapps folder is in the card’s library. User files (settings and logs) live inside the Proton prefix: ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/244210/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Assetto Corsa. There, in the logs folder, you’ll find log.txt if something goes wrong.
Limitations
- No official support. A SteamOS, Proton or CSP update can break what works today.
- Mods that require CSP. Many modern cars and tracks, and graphics mods like Sol or Pure, need Custom Shaders Patch. Without it, they may look wrong or not load.
- Servers. To join modded servers you need the same content as the server, and many expect you to use Content Manager.
- Performance. Valve hasn’t tested it: it depends on the mods, the tracks and the CSP effects you enable.
If you want to play on a handheld without fighting all this, the supported route is a Windows PC. On console there’s the PS4 and Xbox One edition, but without mods.
