Has it ever been free, or is there a demo?
Steam doesn’t offer a demo and there’s no official free version for PC. What is common is steep discounts: right now the PS4 standard edition is 75% off. We haven’t found any official giveaway of the original Assetto Corsa on the Epic Games Store. There’s no free mobile version either: Assetto Corsa Mobile was a different game.
Assetto Corsa, Competizione or EVO?
Kunos sells three different sims, and it’s worth not mixing them up when comparing prices. On Steam Spain, Assetto Corsa costs €19.99; the franchise bundle with Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione, €47.98; and Assetto Corsa EVO, the early access successor, €39.99. If what you’re after is car and track mods, the original Assetto Corsa is still the one with the most free content.
Watch out for «free downloads»
Sites offering «Assetto Corsa free» or «full with all DLC» distribute pirated copies: downloading them infringes Kunos Simulazioni’s rights and is a common source of malware. On top of that, a copy like that doesn’t get official updates. We don’t link to any of them.
What is free: mods and tools
- Content Manager: the Lite version is free; the full version is unlocked with a donation to the author starting at about $2.
- Custom Shaders Patch: free; it modernizes the lighting, weather and physics of many mods.
- Cars and tracks: the vast majority of the mods on Holymod’s mod pages are free. Some are paid and we say so on the page, such as Pure ($1.50 a month on Patreon or Gumroad).
