What this mod does
The Skip Barber Formula 2000 is the school single-seater thousands of drivers have learned to race in across the United States: little power, no wings pinning it to the ground and lots to teach about weight transfer and racing lines. This mod is the first car by Daniel Jimenez, the same author behind the Peugeot 106 Rallye S2, and it has been getting improvements since 2019.
What’s included
- Physics by Kyuubeey, thoroughly reworked in version 1.7 (December 2025) with new suspension, tires and brakes.
- Adjustable setup options, including the front anti-roll bar and the rear flap.
- Improved AI for racing against the computer.
- A PSD template in the textures folder to paint your own liveries, plus skin UI files for online platforms like simracing.gp.
Who it’s for
It’s perfect if you’re coming from touring cars and want to get into open-wheelers without the car overwhelming you: it’s slow, forgiving and punishes mistakes in a way that teaches you something. It’s also widely used in leagues and online races because the field ends up so evenly matched.
Version
The February 17, 2026 release removes a chassis vibration and tweaks the aero, AI, transmission and tires. Since 1.7 you need Custom Shaders Patch 0.2.8 or later.

Requirements
- Assetto Corsa for PC
- Custom Shaders Patch 0.2.8 or later (required)
- Content Manager recommended
- Free OverTake.gg account to download
How to install it
- Update Custom Shaders Patch to 0.2.8 or later from Content Manager.
- Go to the Skip Barber page on OverTake.gg and log in.
- Download the file (about 65 MB).
- If you had an earlier version, delete it first to avoid mixing physics.
- Drag it into Content Manager and install it, or copy the car folder to assettocorsa/content/cars.
- Find Skip Barber in the car list and try it on a technical track.

Common problems
The car won't load or behaves strangely
Since version 1.6 it uses physics that depend on CSP, and since 1.7 it needs 0.2.8 or later. Update CSP.
Why is it so slow?
It's a low-power school single-seater with no downforce; it's built for learning, not for breaking records.
Can I use it in online races?
Yes, version 1.5 added skin files for online platforms and it's common in leagues; every driver on the server needs the same version.
