What this mod does
ProMods Complete North American Background Map is a mod by DOWL that puts a high-quality background of all of North America on the American Truck Simulator world map. It has over 35,000 subscribers on Steam Workshop.
What it does
- It’s a map background, not a map: it doesn’t add roads or cities.
- It covers the whole continent, which is handy if you play with large maps that go beyond SCS territory.
- To cover the Pacific too, the author has a separate “Pacific and North American” edition.

The author asks you to place it above all other map mods.
Version and known issues
The author tested it on 1.57 alongside ProMods Canada, Coast to Coast and Beyond, and believes it will keep working in future versions. The latest update is from December 11, 2024. In the comments, several users say the background shifts with the Alaska North to the Future map and that St. Louis shows up inside Illinois; on May 19, 2026 the author said he would look into it. It’s about 11 MB.

Requirements
- American Truck Simulator (the author tested it on 1.57)
- Steam account to subscribe on the Workshop
- No DLC or other mods required
How to install it
- Open the “ProMods Complete North American Background Map” page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe”.
- Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish the download.
- Open your profile's Mod Manager and enable the mod.
- Place it above all your map mods.
- Open the world map (M key) to see the new background.
