What this mod does

Real Good Headlights for SCS Trucks is a mod by Maurice Randall (maurice on Steam) that reworks the headlights on American Truck Simulator’s stock trucks. It aims for the feel of real-life night driving and has over 38,000 subscribers on Steam Workshop.

What it does

  • Recreates the light beam so you can see the road better at night.
  • Casts some light to both sides of the front, which helps when turning at unlit intersections or driveways.
  • Works with halogen and LED headlights.
  • Covers all SCS trucks, including the Volvo VNL 2025 and the VNR Electric since May 2026, and quick jobs too.

Version

V6.0, from September 4, 2026, is, according to the author, a major fix for 1.61 that corrects the red headlights. It’s just 60 KB and requires no DLC.

Other versions and compatibility

The author publishes another version for trucks by other modders and two more for ETS2. One user resolved conflicts with graphics and rain mods by placing this one above them. The author recommends SCS’s stock graphics and weather.

How to install it

  1. Open the mod's page on Steam Workshop and click “Subscribe.”
  2. Launch American Truck Simulator and wait for Steam to finish the download.
  3. Go to your profile's Mod Manager and enable “Real Good Headlights for SCS Trucks.”
  4. If you use graphics or rain mods, place this one above them.
  5. Load your save and drive at night with your lights on to see the difference.

That was a 1.61 issue the author fixed in V6.0 on September 4, 2026.
